The Paint Box was founded in 1968 by Arlene Corren after a successful career as an art director in NYC. As a Pratt graduate, she was well trained and her artistic talents continued to flourish when picking mat colors and frames in Westchester at a time when framing stores were still a rarity.
In 1980 Gale Harrison, daughter of Arlene, gradually took over the store after graduating from college. Gale, aka, “The Rock and Roll framer of Bedford!” studied art history at Fredonia State College and at The Hull School of Art in Hull England. Art has been all around our family for many generations. The physical aspects of picture framing can be taught, but when it comes to design, color sense and creativity, it is truly an art that is a gift, and one that I love sharing everyday with my customers.
